DANVILLE - Danville Arts and Humanities is offering an opportunity for young people to become active in the organization through a new committee created specifically for teens and young adults.
The Arts & Humanities Youth Action Committee, which will work alongside the board of directors, will allow young members of the Danville area to organize interesting and exciting events, promote the organization's membership drive, coordinate and lead social network marketing, update the online Arts & Culture calendar and represent the organization.

One member of the Youth Action Committee will also be appointed to the board of directors to serve as a representative.
The committee will immediately begin serving on several projects that are under way, including two Art on Main festivals (May 7 and Oct. 2011).
In addition to enhancing the opportunities for young adults through Arts & Humanities, each member of the committee will receive a complimentary one-year membership.

Applicants should be prepared to spend 8-15 hours per month working with the Youth Action Committee, which will include meetings at a central Danville location.
Approximately 20 young adults will be chosen to represent the Dan River region.
